Alot has happened in the Barrett house the last couple of weeks. Here are the highlights!
1. I’ve successfully completed 2 10k’s! The Capitol 10,000 and the Texas Round-Up. Both were so fun. The Cap 10k was highly entertaining due to the 20,000 people that ran it and live music along the course. The Texas Round-Up was by far the more challenging race as the hills were really more like mini-mountains, but it made it that much more satisfying to finish! Thanks to Stephen for waking up early (something he loathes) and chauffeuring me to each event.
2. We joined a gym! I really couldn’t be more excited about this. I’ve been running a ton and as much as I love it, I’m feeling the effects. Our gym lets us swim, bike, weight train, etc and I can already feel my knees saying “Thank you.” Seriously, if you live in Austin, you have to check out Pure Austin Fitness (thank you Patrick!). Love it! They have downtown location which I plan to use on the weekends when I run Town Lake or after church on Sunday. The north location is 10 minutes from our house AND they own the lake out behind it….open water swim anyone? I feel like I might actually be able to train for a triathlon again. So excited!
3. We went the the Coheed and Cambria show at Stubb’s last Wednesday. This was a doubly new experience for me as I had never heard Coheed live before (definitely a band my husband brought into my life) nor had I ever been to or eaten at Stubb’s. Both were really fun (and delicious!).
4. We celebrated the birthday of our beloved Shih Tzu and no joke made him a birthday cake. It was pretty awesome I have to say. The cake is mainly peanut butter, carrots, and honey and was “iced” in cream cheese. Barney approved. Happy 2 years B!
5. We got a yard! This may sound strange, but we literally had a front and back yard entirely full of weeds (and I mean WEEDS, as in the dog would hike his leg on them) until about 2 weeks ago when we had our entire yard dug up, a sprinkler system put in, and sod layed. It looks great, although the sod is still taking root and meshing together. No pictures of the yard at the moment but I do have some pics of the plants that live on our front porch.
Coming soon…..trip to San Fransisco!
I totally commend you for being able to do these marathons. To much running for me. Good luck on the one coming up in SA!

Thanks Corby! We’ll see how it goes!
